P100K GRANT FOR A CENTENARIAN: Encarnacion D. Certifico, a Sulopian centenarian from Barangay Poblacion, received PhP100,000.00 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as incentive for reaching 100 years old, earlier today.
Born on January 1, 1922, Lola Encarnacion is a mother of five (5) children and a grandmother/ great grandmother of seventy-eight (78) grandchildren/ great grandchildren.
In addition to DSWD’s Php100,000.00, the Local Government Unit of Sulop also awarded Php10,000.00. In total, the Centenarian Awardee received P110,000.00. While the Provincial Government will give an additional PhP 10,000.00.
Aside from the monetary award, the centenarian also received letter of felicitation recognizing her achievement signed by President Rodrigo Duterte, a token from DSWD and goods from the Provincial Government.
Together with the family of the awardee, gracing the event were LCE’s Representative, Mr. Isidro O. Sagarino, Jr., Maria Victoria N. Arancon of DSWD Region XI, Eimmann V. Lumpapac of PSWDO, MSWDO Karen Marie B. Fernandez, MSWD Personnel, Punong Barangay Hon. Guillermo A. Preglo, and OSCA President Carolina R. Silva.
The awarding follows the mandate of the Republic Act No. 10868 or the Centenarian Act of 2016 where the National Government must award P100, 000 cash incentives to Filipino citizens who have reached the age of 100 as an act of honoring them.
